Many Florida counties now provide similar programs to help homeowners and business owners protect themselves against property and title fraud.
Property fraud is becoming more common as scammers attempt to file fraudulent documents online using someone else’s name or property information. These alert systems provide an extra layer of protection by notifying you when documents are recorded under your name.
How the Property Fraud Alert Service Works
Sarasota County and Manatee County make the sign-up process quick and easy.
Once you register, you will receive an email notification whenever a document is recorded in the county using your personal or business name.
Notifications are typically sent within 24 hours after the document is recorded, giving you the opportunity to:
Review the recorded document through public records
Verify whether the filing is legitimate
Contact law enforcement or the Clerk’s Office if fraud is suspected
This free service is a smart and proactive way to monitor your property and identity.
